This is one of those products that you should to keep in the trunk of your car; because you never know when you’re going to need it.
Here’s how I found out about this product. My wife and I were shopping at the local mall. It was a rainy late afternoon in early fall, and when we got out of the car, I didn’t realize that my wife had left the lights on.
We came back out two hours later, and heard the “grind, grind” of a slowly dying battery.
We gave it a few minutes and tried again; not only would her car not start, but we were now just getting the clicking sound a dead battery makes.
However, a good Samaritan was walking past and, hearing our futile attempts to start the car, he asked as if we needed any help.
I asked if he had any jumper cables, and he just smiled and said he had something even better.

I discovered that the IP 1850 has a maintenance free 18 amp hour battery that generates 250 cranking amps; more than enough for my wife’s Cadillac. And the 18 amps are stronger than the more general, 12 amp models available online; so that this IP 1850 FL would actually be suitable even for bigger cars and trucks.
It is a rugged jump starter that will work for all three cars in our household; and I really like the detachable 12 volt flexible light that comes in quite handy when trying to hook up the connections in the dark.
Another thing I discovered is that the IP-1850FL is also an easy to use power source for my laptop; all I have to do is plug in my laptop just like I when I am at home.
So next time I have to go shopping with my wife, she can spend hours looking at shoes while I can actually get some work done on my laptop in the car if I want to.
The Price Is Fair For What You Get
When looking for one of these jump starters to keep in the trunk, I compared various prices on different models and settled on the IP-1850FL.
I liked it because at $80, it was not all that much more than the 12 amp models, it had more jump starting power than the 12 amp models, and the included flex light sealed the deal for me.
