We’ve all been there… at least once. I took a look outside at the cold dark of an early February morning last year, and figured I might as well run out to the driveway just to get the car started and warmed up before heading out.

I had kids to drop off at school, an errand to run before work, and a full, hectic day ahead at the shop.

Braving the cold, I put the key in the ignition, and gave it a turn. Instead of the regular, comforting sounds of the F-150 engine turning over smoothly, my heart dropped suddenly as I heard the “click, click, click” of a dead battery.

That changed my day immediately.

Now, I was going to have to push the truck back out of the driveway, get my wife out of bed to bring her car around, spend another half hour trying to find exactly where I put those jumper cables….

Then I remembered… I bought that Schumacher SC-10030A SpeedCharge Automatic Battery Charger late last summer because of the great deal I found online. And it’s sitting right there in the garage.

“Battery chargers and I have never gotten along. I actually once sold, what turned out to be, a perfectly good old snow plow truck because I thought something serious was wrong with the engine. The charger showed the battery was good, so I figured it had to be the engine and it was too old and rusty to put more money into it. The guy came to pick it up, gave me $200…stuck a new battery in it, and drove it away. It was a bad charger not a bad battery…

It takes about two minutes to hook up, the 100 amps of engine cranking power in the Schumacher SC-10030A does its magic, and…

When I turned the ignition the next time, I was rewarded with the throaty rumble of the Ford turning over like it should.

Talk about money well spent!

I had just saved myself the time and effort it would have taken to find the jumper cables, get the other car close enough for the cables to reach and connect, and most importantly, my wife is not out shivering in the cold at the crack of dawn.

The Schumacher SC-10030A… The New Boy On the Block

The Schumacher SpeedCharge line of automatic battery chargers is currently the “state of the art” when it comes to battery charging and maintenance technology.

And the SC-10030A is a great everyday workhouse in the SpeedCharge line. What exactly is “under the hood” of this SC-10030A?

The Schumacher SC-10030A works a little differently than other chargers.

This charger utilizes computer control to enhance the charge rate; and it also monitors the battery condition to insure that the battery is not overcharged.

In other words, you can hook up the battery to the SC-10030A, set the controls, and walk away.

Your battery will be fully charged in a fraction of the time required by other conventional chargers. And when the computer control in the SC-10030A determines that the battery is fully charged, the charger is automatically shut off completely.

With this charger, your batteries will be fully charged quicker than with conventional chargers.

The Schumacher SC-10030A Is Feature Rich

Among its many features, the SC-10030A has a 100 amp engine start for emergency starting and a 10 amp charge rate; which is a self-adjusting, variable charge rate ideal for everyday charging needs as well as maintaining your battery in peak condition.

And the SC-10030A charges both 6V and 12V batteries; which means that the SC-10030A is compatible with virtually every type of automotive or light marine battery.

“Very good build quality; it doesn’t feel cheaply made. Can charge all 12V battery types and has three different rates. To top it off, the price is very reasonable. The not so good is nothing that I can think of. I used this charger on my red top Optima battery at least three times. If you’ve got a weekend cruiser, this is the charger for you…

There is also a 2 Amp Slow Charge “trickle rate” setting for charging AGM, deep cycle, gel cel, SLA, and even standard batteries. And it also has a tester/alternator check function as well.

Most importantly, the 100 amp engine start provides all of the quick power anyone needs to crank the engine with even the most lifeless of batteries.

This charger has sure-grip clamps for top and side-mounted battery posts, an electronic touchpad control, and easy-to-select switches for the digital display.

And as with all Schumacher SpeedCharge products, it comes with a one year limited warranty.

A Strong Value for the Money

They seem to have hit the sweet spot on pricing with the SpeedCharge 10030A as well.
Retailing at around $135, you can find this Schumacher SC-10030A online for about $80; which is about 40% off.

And you’ll see the value of this SpeedCharger the very first time you use it…. On those cold, early, mid-winter mornings when you don’t have time to lose.
