If you are looking for a manual battery charger that is heavy-duty, can handle multiple big amp batteries, and is designed for fleet and industrial use, then the Schumacher SE-3000 manual battery charger is a great choice.
We use this SE-3000 in my busy equipment rental shop, and because of our high volume, this SE-3000 gets a lot of use.
The SE-3000 Is Industrial Strength
Built to withstand heavy industrial applications, the SE-3000 has the capacity to charge 6, 12, 18, and 24 volt batteries; so there is absolutely no need to charge 18V and 24V batteries separately.
When shopping around for a charger for my shop, I had a specific set of requirements that I needed. And of course, I don’t want to have to sell the farm to get a reliable charger for the various battery sizes that I have.
For example, I have a bunch of deep cycle batteries, and I needed a charger that would put out a lots of amps continuously. The SE-3000 charger has worked great for not only those deep cycle batteries, but for several other specific tasks as well.
The Schumacher SE-3000 – My Favorite Features
Mainly, I like the “power engine start” available in each volt range; and you can adjust the different volt ranges by using the single rotary switch located on the front of the charger. And with 200 amps, it can emergency start pretty much every piece of equipment in the shop.
It has an 80 amp rate for 6 volt batteries, a 65 amp rate for 12 volt systems, a 57 amp rate for 18 volt batteries, and a 30 amp rate for all 24 volt batteries.
So, for an industrial battery charger that works with multiple voltages, you can see that the SE-3000 can handle pretty much any charging task you ask of it.
Don’t Forget This Though…
With that in mind, you have to remember exactly what this manual battery charger is; it is a big, heavy, high output manual battery charger.
If you leave it cranked all the way up, this charger will fry out almost all but the biggest batteries (I learned this the hard way, so watch your power adjustments on this charger).
However, by paying attention and adjusting the power on this manual charger, it will handle almost any battery you need to get charged. And if you have bigger batteries (like 600 amp hours plus), then the SE-3000 should work just great for you.
My main complaint is with the sheet metal box on the outside of this unit. While it looks cool with the black finish and the controls are easily accessible, the sheet metal itself is pretty thin and dents easily; and mine has gotten knocked around a bit already.
Then again, I work in an industrial shop, so those things are going to happen. But over all, this charger has the horsepower to handle every charging task I have thrown at it so far.
And since I only paid around $220 for it (I bought it online and delivery was real fast), this SE-3000 has paid for itself already.
I would recommend this charger to anyone that needs a reliable, heavy duty charging machine.
